Three students from different faculties in Brawijaya University (UB) made a new finding by combining Bajakah Tampala & Propolis as an improvement in the treatment of breast cancer. "The (molecular) docking simulation that we carried out had a combination of compounds in Bajakah Tampala and Propolis. Previously, these two plants were known for their anticancer properties," said Ellysia Hitdatania representing the research team for the treatment of breast cancer in Malang, East Java, Saturday.
They hope that through combining Bajakah Tampala & Propolis in docking simulation can increase its anticancer value and efficacy which will result as an improvement in the treatment of breast cancer that can be beneficial in medical field.

Cancer is still one of the critical problems all over the world in health sector.
Nowadays, said Ellysia, cancer is still one of the critical problems all over the world in health sector, even one of the sustainable goals of the United Nations (UN) point 3, it is emphasized that We must reduce one third of deaths from non-transmissible disease, such as diabetes and cancer. Since 2008, breast cancer cases have increased by more than 20 percent, while the death rate from breast cancer has increased by 14 percent. Breast cancer is the cancer with the highest percentage of new cases (43.3 percent) and the highest percentage of deaths (12.9 percent) in women in the world. Based on data from the 2013 Basic Health Research, the prevalence of breast cancer in Indonesia reached 0.5 per 1000 women.
Starting from these problems, three students of Chemistry Department, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) and Faculty of Animal Husbandry (FAPET) UB offer an update in cancer treatment, namely by combining Bajakah Tampala & Propolis as an improvement in the treatment of breast cancer. The three students are Ellysia Hitdatania (FMIPA), and Lilin Putri Jasmine and Fadilah Nurziyadaturrohmah from Fapet. They conducted the research under the guidance of Dr. Arie Srihardyastuie S.Si, M.Kes. From this research, they managed to get funding in the 2020 Community Creativity Program (PKM) organized by the Directorate of Learning and Student Affairs of the Ministry of Cultural Education.
